Slow The Fit Down (S.T.F.D.) is a slow, sustainable, fashion movement in response to overconsumption.
Product life should be cyclical. As more research surfaces about the harmful effects of fast fashion, several companies have made strides towards thoughtful creation of sustainable goods but not enough have addressed the rate at which we consume, or how we can re-purpose and recycle our clothes.
One of the goals of S.T.F.D. is to create a circle of consumerism that supports an innovative and sustainable future. The opening event (2019) revolved around the following prompt:
Similar to a cartoon character, what is an outfit you would consider wearing everyday?
It showcased Chicagoan's photo and audio response to this prompt and invited guests to share their own. Local designer James Langford of Gro.tesc also displayed pieces from his latest collection.
Stay tuned for more S.T.F.D. events.
